Stand-up paddlers are less likely to be more
than 45 years old compared to other paddlesports
participants, and they are more likely to be
between the ages of 25 and 44. But SUP isn’t
exactly introducing American youth below the
age of 24 to water sports, as the percentage
of SUPers under 24 is on par with kayaking,
canoeing and rafting.

Rethinking Self-Service
Retailers can utilize technology to enhance the in-store experi-
ence in a couple of ways. One is to empower store employees to
make them more productive, and the other is to empower cus-
tomers with self-service technologies. According to Retail Systems
Research, leading retailers are choosing the former, and RSR’s
“winners” are far more likely than “all others” to have increased
payroll in their stores as a percentage of sales.
