GTI says its Breathable Water Protection technology permanently hyper-fuses to the individual fabric fibers, leaving no need to ever re- fresh the jacket with an additional spray or wash-in finish. The technology will debut in Black Diamond’s spring 2019 Distance Wind Shell and grow in future seasons to be implemented into Black Diamond’s proprietary BD.Dry ski, alpine and rainwear collections. Another key com- ponent of Black Diamond’s spring 2019 apparel collection is the inclusion of BD.cool, a mineral-based in-fiber cool- ing technology that reflects 71 percent of near-infrared rays and reduces the wearer’s temperature. Downlite has partnered with Co- cona to introduce a thermo-regulating fill dubbed ClimaSMART, a 37.5 down blend. The 37.5 down blend is a mix of down and polyester fiber perma- nently embedded with naturally de- rived 37.5 active particles. The 37.5 particles attract and release moisture vapor the body produces when it heats up, and then uses infrared en- ergy the body creates to drive excess moisture out. According to third-party studies at In- side Climate Munich, 37.5 technology can reduce the Heat Index – a primary mea- surement of the discomfort felt as a result of temperature and humidity next to your skin – in the microclimate by 8° C (14° F). “37.5 down blend manages excess heat and moisture more efficiently than down alone,” said Chad Altbaier, vice president, Downlite Outdoor. “In addition, it dries 40 percent faster than natural down alone.”  ClimaSMART powered by 37.5 is available in both white and grey duck and goose down in multiple fill powers, and with RDS certification.
