Cabela’s will officially open its Wichita, Kan., store Wednesday, March 14. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:45 a.m., with doors opening for business at 11 a.m. Opening day will be part of a weekend-long celebration featuring outdoor celebrities, special guests, giveaways and more.
The store is located in the Regency Lakes Shopping Center at 21st Street and Greenwich Road, and is Cabela’s second retail store in Kansas, joining the Kansas City location. The Wichita location is the first of five stores Cabela’s plans to open in 2012, joining Tulalip, Wash.; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Rogers, Ark.; and Charleston, W.Va.
The building’s exterior will reflect Cabela’s traditional store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing. A large glass storefront will allow customers to view much of the store’s interior as they approach the building.
The inside will highlight the company’s next-generation layout, designed to immerse customers in the outdoor experience. It will feature approximately 250 full-body animal mounts, including polar, grizzly and black bears, Cape buffalo, mountain lion, deer and elk. A 4,000-gallon aquarium featuring fish native to the area will be located at the base of a mountain replica. There also will be a Gun Library, offering a wide range of firearms, as well as a Bargain Cave, where shoppers will find Cabela’s biggest discounts.
Regency Lakes Shopping Center also includes Super Target, World Market, Hampton Inn & Suites and other retailers.
